Peran Penatua dalam Penggembalaan Jemaat Berdasarkan 1 Petrus 5:3: Studi Kualitatif dengan Pendekatan Eksegesis

Penatua memiliki tanggung jawab penting dalam memelihara kehidupan rohani jemaat. Oleh karena itu, kepemimpinan penatua perlu dipahami bukan hanya berdasarkan tugas pengawasan, tetapi juga berdasarkan cara otoritas dijalankan dalam penggembalaan. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis peran penatua berdasarkan 1 Petrus 5:3 dengan memperhatikan konteks 1 Petrus 5:1–5. Penelitian menggunakan metode kualitatif berbasis studi kepustakaan dengan pendekatan eksegesis-historis melalui penelaahan konteks sastra-historis perikop dan ungkapan Yunani yang relevan. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa ungkapan typoi ginomenoi tou poimniou (“menjadi teladan bagi kawanan domba”) menegaskan keteladanan sebagai lawan dari sikap mendominasi jemaat. Dalam konteks perikop, prinsip ini berkaitan dengan tanggung jawab menggembalakan dan mengawasi jemaat dengan kerelaan, bukan karena paksaan atau demi keuntungan pribadi. Berdasarkan analisis tersebut, peran penatua mencakup pemberian teladan melalui kehidupan dan perilaku, pemeliharaan jemaat secara pastoral, serta pelaksanaan otoritas tanpa dominasi. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa keteladanan merupakan prinsip teologis yang mengarahkan pelaksanaan tanggung jawab penggembalaan. Dalam konteks gereja masa kini, prinsip tersebut dapat menjadi dasar bagi pengembangan kepemimpinan pastoral yang berintegritas, peduli terhadap kebutuhan rohani jemaat, serta mendukung pertumbuhan iman dan kehidupan persekutuan.
